The Migrator for Notes to Exchange (MNE) Provision wizard associates contacts with security objects in AD by comparing the unique values of a particular AD object attribute to the unique value of a corresponding column in the SQL Server database. Where these values match, the associated contact and AD Object are assumed to represent the same entity, and the two are therefore merged. If one of the specified attributes in the MNE database is not unique to the environment, select the Search Key attribute and populate the column in the database as described below.
When running the MNE Provision wizard; it will use the "SourceAddress" column to find the Contact, and then will use what is in the "SearchKey" column to find the AD security (user) object. We recommend using the value found in the Pre-Win2k field of the users AD accounts in the "SearchKey" column, and then when configuring the application specify the "sAMAccountName" attribute.
Step by Step Process:
1. From the MNE Migration Manager (the Export Notes Directory screen): Click Export objects to TSV to export the data to a .tsv (tab-separated values format) file. A dialog box will prompt for the destination folder and filename.
2. Use Microsoft Excel (or some other program that can edit a tsv-format file) to edit the contents of the table.
3 .Look for a column called Searchkey. In this column, add the unique value from AD (IE. CN, MailNickname,SAMAccountName, etc) that you want Notes Migrator to search for on the line for that object.
4. In MNE Migration Manager: Click Import objects from TSV to import the edited .tsv file into the SQL Server database. A dialog box will prompt for the filename and its location. Note that this Import objects from TSV feature will accept only a TSV data file that was earlier exported to TSV format by the Export objects to TSV feature on this same screen (see step 1 above).
5. Once the file is imported, go to the Provision screen on the left hand pane.
6. Click the Provision... button and go forward until the "Choose your method for finding objects" screen.
7. On this screen, select SearchKey from the "Choose a database column from the following".
8. Select the unique AD attribute (IE. CN, MailNickname,SAMAccountName, etc) from the 'Specify The Active Directory Attribute' that matches. This has to match the value of the SearchKey you entered in Step 3.
9. Continue through the process and it should merge correctly. The contact will be found by the SMTP address located in the export notes directory screen. The user will be found by the SearchKey value in the Notes Migrator database and the selected AD attribute.
