Incorrect AD objects were migrated and now target domain need to be cleaned up. Is it OK to delete objects in the target domain or there is a recommended way in cancelling changes made by migration session in the target domain? Will undoing the migration session free up the licenses?
Undoing a migration session is considered best practice when changes need to be reverted back. This does reset the license counter and if the migration for a user has been undone no license is counted for this user anymore, in other words undoing a migration will free up the licenses. Please never delete migrated objects from the target domain as this will still be counted against migrated objects license counter.
To undo the results of a migration session, select the Migration node in the migration project tree, right-click the session displayed in the right-hand pane and select Undo from the shortcut menu. The Undo Wizard will start up. For more information please review the User Guide, the part Undo Account Migration.
IMPORTANT: This only applies to the migration session. Changes made by directory synchronization are not reversible and cannot be rolled back. Please consider having AD backup and Restore solutions in place while doing migration project. One of the recommended products is Quest Recovery Manager for AD.
