How to remote deploy LiteSpeed on an Availability Group (4378722)

This article describes the correct way to remotely deploy LiteSpeed to all replicas of an Availability Group (AG). 

Requirements:

• Before you run the Remote Deploy Configuration wizard, you must run a Complete installation on the machine from which you wish to run the remote deploy.
• Make sure you have a Windows domain user account with Administrator rights for the server instances you want to install LiteSpeed on. The machines must be part of the same domain.
• The machine running remote deploy must have bi-directional connectivity to target SQL instances.

Follow these steps to do a remote deployment on an Availability Group. 

• Open LiteSpeed Remote Deployment
• Select Generate Remote Deploy configuration files and deploy in the Remote Deploy Task step. 

• Select the path of the installation file msi. 

• Select the account that will be used for the installation.  The installation by default will use the user account running Remote Deploy.

• In the SQL Server step, type or select the AG listener name. Once done, the list of the replicas will be displayed, select all the replicas and deselect the listener. Depending on environmental configurations the replica list may not be populated, in this scenario, add all replicas to the list individually.

• Select the installation directory

• In the Local Repository step, leave the defaults to install a Local database on each replica. 

• Keep the Native Backup activity options as default. 

• In the Central Repository step, select the name of the SQL Server instance that hosts the central repository of your setup. 

• Enter the credentials for the account that will run services that update the repository database.

• Keep the next steps as default and run the deployment.
