The Mail Target Agent (MTA) stops processing the PRV/PST files. Numerous errors are generated in the log file. After stopping and starting the MTA, the agent ran for about 10 minutes, memory usage slowly increased for EMWMTA.exe, when it hits the resource memory limit the errors started. CPU was at about 3% usage for the process (low). The MTA would process the PRV/PST files after a stop and start of the agent, but after a while it fails to connect because of system resource exceeded errors
The Target server has plenty of disk space and memory. The MTA had been working fine until it started to have issues. The statistic agent may not be running. There are no changes to the job that need to be committed. The target server a W2K8 server with E2K7 installed.
The MTA had been re-installed along with the Shared Components.
The following agents installed on the Target server; CSA, F/B, MTA, PFTA, PFSA, NTA
The following errors are found in the MTA log:
27/10/2008 11:28:23 AM CDatabase::Execute Error 3035 System resource exceeded.
27/10/2008 11:28:23 AM CAgentStat::StartItem InternalError 2001 Predecessor object was not set.
Getting this error when try to connect to a mailbox in the target:

Possible issue with statistics logging and E2K7 on W2K8 (unsure if this is the issue as this is based on theResolution).
It is believed that the Statistics logging for the MTA is causing an issue. When logging of the stats data is stopped, the MTA seems to return to normal control.
To stop logging, browsing down thru the Target Exchange 200x Org in the QMM console until you get to the target server.
Right click on the server and select Properties.
Once the properties open select the Mail Target Agent and then Logging.
In the Statistics box select the Do not write statistics radio button.
Then select OK.
This will write the config.ini back to the server. Stop and start the MTA so the new config.ini will take effect.
The MTA was installed I.A.W. the following solutions but it did not make a difference.
