How to configure the a KACE SMA or SDA appliance initially
Description
Now and then an appliance needs to reinstalled. This KB uses a KACE SMA 7.2.101 as an example. The SDA looks similar
Résolution
As a prerequisite, the appliance is reimaged or the virtual machine has been imported to the Virtualization environment.
Boot the appliance
(optional) If no DHCP server is used and the appliance did not get an IP address login into the console using the following credentials: username: konfig password: konfig configure the network settings as needed
Login into the web interface using http://k1000/admin
Note the 2FA keys since they are needed if support needs to access the appliance backend
Click Next
Enter the License Key which was obtained by sales via email, the company name, the email of the administrator and the password for the account admin which is a non-changeable account name which has full administrative rights on the appliance Webfrontend
Click Next
Enter the SMB (Samba) password for the user admin which is used to upload files to the share of the appliance to import or accessing the agent bundle on the SMA.
Click Next
Enter hostname and domain (if not done in Step 2)
Click Next
Enter the network settings (if not done in Step 2)
Click Next
Review the settings and click Next. This will reboot the appliance
Login into the appliance under http://k1000/admin to setup the appliance for daily business (Helpdesk, Scripting, Inventory, etc)
