Is it possible to run two instances of Active Administrator Server Manager? -
Description
Due to disaster recovery guidelines, or cluster fail-over provisions with other applications, the user may wish to install a second instance of the Active Administrator Server manager in the network -
Cause
Two instances of the Active Administrator Server Manager is not supported. -
Résolution
The user may install as many instances of the Active Administrator Console as convenient on servers and workstations around the network.
However, the Active Administrator Server Manager service
AA Foundation service
AA Notification service
have constant interaction with Active Directory and the Active Administrator database.
Multiple sets of services attempting to perform the same functions within Active Directory and the SQL engine simultaneously can introduce conflicts and timeouts into the methods and processes.
Active Administrator Server Manager can support multiple instances if the services are installed upon multiple domains in a forest (non-competitive services) or if the second instance has the services set to Inactive and Manual so that they can be started if the production instance of the Active Administrator server is unavailable on the network.
