Alarms without alarm templates sent by email through Notification Channels (4368693)

Notification Channels send alarms by email, even though there is no rule that the user can toggle to disable these notifications.

These notifications are sent for SQL Server targets in any Alarm Template with a Notification Channel assigned.

The following alarm types have been identified:

• Credential Management Event
• Agent Health State

By default the subject for emails sent by Notification Channels will have the following format:

Foglight has generated a ${severity} alarm for ${targetName} : ${ruleName}

Note: For credential alarms the rule name will be empty.

RESOLUTION

Starting with Foglight 8.0.0, Credential Management Event and Agent Health State alarms and email notifications can be managed using Alarm Templates and Notification Channels. The alarms are available under the "Foglight" domain.

WORKAROUND

If required, it is only possibly to stop the email notifications by disabling the relevant alarm:

1. To disable management credential alarms; refer to How to disable Credential Management Event alarms (4252496).
2. For other alarms such as "Agent Health State", the rule can be disabled from the Rules Management dashboard.

STATUS

This issues has been logged as defect Id. FOG-4745 and has been fixed in the 8.0.0 and higher releases of Foglight.
