How to use upgrade pre-checker (Pre-upgrade analysis utility) for Foglight 5.9.1, Foglight 5.9.2 and Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition (FVE) 8.7 / 8.7.5 ?
Cause

Foglight 5.9.1, Foglight 5.9.2 and Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition (FVE) 8.7/ 8.7.5 removed JBoss Server and repalced by JGroups
Since this is major change, we provide the Pre-upgrade analysis utility and check your FMS compatibility

Resolution

Here are the steps how your run this Pre-upgrade analysis utility

Download attached Pre-upgrade analysis utility (ForgeUpgradeCheck-all.jar) and upload to your FMS server $FGLHOME/jre/bin directory
Run this command
java -jar ForgeUpgradeCheck-all.jar Car_file_OR_Folder > result.html (For windows FMS)
./java -jar ForgeUpgradeCheck-all.jar Car_file_OR_Folder > result.html (For Linux FMS)

NOTE 1: Car_file_OR_Folder, this is the directory where all the cartridges are installed, usually a path like this: \QUEST\Foglight\cartridge

NOTE 2: result.html file will get saved under this directory: \QUEST\Foglight\jre\bin>

This is one Windows example:

C:\QUEST\Foglight\jre\bin>java -jar ForgeUpgradeCheck-all.jar C:\QUEST\Foglight\cartridge> result.html

3. Review the result.html file.

4. Upgrade to compatible cartridge(s) and un-install not compatible cartridge(s)

5. Re-run the checker again to verify

NOTE 3: The 5.5.4 Operating System Cartridge is no longer supported, and is incompatible with 5.9.x and has been replaced with the Infrastructure Cartridge. If you wish to upgrade to 5.9.x, you will need to uninstall the OS Cartridge and use Infrastructure Cartridge 5.9.x.

How to solve customer cartridge error found from pre-checker tool.

For any customization cartridges which having following direct class reference in groovy, jar for org.jboss.*, please change to use the new reference as listed below.
