Installing a FMS gets stops when populating a SQL Server database -
Description
When installing a new Foglight Management Server (FMS) using a SQL Server repository database, the process gets stops with the following error message:
Warning! The maximum key length for a nonclustered index is 1700 bytes. The index 'idx_pcm_name_type' has maximum length of 1786 bytes. For some combination of large values, the insert/update operation will fail. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Remove Quest Folders.
Delete foglight database and user foglight at SSMS.
Run the installation file again. Perform as usual.
At 'Database Setting' before choose Microsoft SQL Server (External), open the file located at C:\Quest\Foglight\scripts\sql-templates\sqlsvr_create_schema.sql using wordpad.
Find the 'create table persistable_config_model' and change the value of adapter nvarchar(255) null, to adapter nvarchar(128) null, and save it.
Now choose SQL Server as External database and proceed with the rest of the installation steps.
STATUSDefect ID FGL-20594 has been logged for this issue to be fixed in a future release of the Foglight Management Server. -
