Some dashboards have predefined view components that can be dragged and dropped directly onto a new dashboard.
These components may also have an instance selector to choose the agent instance for a specific agent.
Components can also be moved using the drag and drop method to reposition them around the new dashboard page.
Resolution
To create a new dashboard using a drag and drop method
To begin, login into the Foglight console
In Foglight 6.0 and higher, open the Classic Web Console as Knowledgebase article 4226398
From the collapsing Actions panel on the Right side of the console, click the Create Dashboard Link
Click the Use All Data radio button, and then the Next button
Change the name of the dashboard if desired and then click the Finish button
Click the Cancel button to jump to the new empty dashboard
Change the tab in the Actions panel to Views From this area some predefined views and components are available to be dragged and dropped onto the empty Dashboard Canvas. In this example we will use some components from the SQL Server agent Overview page
Expand Databases | SQL Server | realtime summary | Overview and Databases | SQL Server | Overview
Next drag and drop some of the components from these areas onto the new dashboard canvas
By switching back to General tab in the Actions panel, the number of columns can be changed between 1, 2 and 3.
Change dashboard temporarily to be one column
Click the Instance Selector link and choose a different agent. The metrics in the component will change to reflect the current metrics from that selected agent
Some views may have an instance selector option in the top corner of the component.
