SQL Queries for a specific database agent type are not available under Query Insights

A database agent domain is not showing as a domain in Query Insights | Foglight Cloud

In the example below Oracle is not displayed.
 

CAUSE 1

The monitored instances may be processing with a minimal workload. Minimal workload is a situation when the instance experiencing a very low activity.

A minimal workload is defined as a situation where none of these thresholds are passed:

• At least 20% of the instance active time in the time range is above 0.5
• There is at least one point within the chart that is above 5

If neither thresholds are passed then the instance state should be declared as "Minimal Load".

CAUSE 2

Defect specific to the Oracle cartridge

RESOLUTION 1 

For several cartridges there also needs to be a minimum workload associated with the database instance. minimum workload is defined as avg of 1.5 sec/s activity in a 15min timeframe which means at least 1-2 statement is actively running throughout the entire 15 min.

This number can be configured using the appropriate registry variables

• Dbwc_Common_Azure_MinimalWorkloadHighActivityThreshold

• Dbwc_Common_DB2_MinimalWorkloadHighActivityThreshold
• Dbwc_Common_Postgres_PI_MinimalWorkloadHighActivityThreshold
• Dbwc_Common_MYSQL_PI_MinimalWorkloadHighActivityThreshold

Messages similar to the following may appear in the FMS log when agents are in a minimal workload state

VERBOSE [TimeDriven_Worker-3] Oracle Push Top SQL PI HOSTNAME-INSTANCE - Instance [HOSTNAME-INSTANCE] is in Minimal Workload state

Users can reduce the minimal work load threshold by reducing the the value of registry variable listed above from the default of 1.5 to 0.1

RESOLUTION 2

Defect FOG-6183 has been logged specific for the Oracle domain missing from Query Insights. This has been fixed in the 6.3.0.22 and higher releases of the Oracle cartridge.
