How to relocate a restore in NetVault
To restore a file or directory without overwriting the existing copy, you can rename or relocate the item during restore.

These instructions and video are based on version 9.2 and below, however, the process and steps are nearly identical in NetVault 10.x and above. Please refer to the NetVault Backup User's Guide for reference with Netvault 10.x and above.

From the Restore Pane:
-drill down to the directory or file you wish to restore/relocate, Right click select 'Rename.'
-use “Rename to” to rename the directory or file to the original location
-use “Relocate to” to relocate the directory or file to a different location(directory)
-use both if you wish to rename the directory of file and relocate to new location
Restores can also be relocated to a different NetVault machine by selecting the desired machine under the “Target Client” tab (Not necessary if relocating to original machine). The target machine must have a similar file structure as the original machine. Additionally, relocate to will only create the final destination directory defined in the relocate field. Example: if you wish to relocate file 1 under C: on machine A to D:/stuff/archive on machine B, you will need to be sure that directory “stuff” exist on volume D on machine B and NetVault will create directory “archive”.
Note that the version of the plugin used for the restore on the target client must be the same or greater than the version the backup was taken with.
