About Toad for IBM DB2

With Toad, developers and database administrators can use a familiar, proven tool to manage databases. Toad empowers developers and administrators, of varying skill levels, to rapidly create and execute queries, automate database object management, and develop SQL more efficiently.

Toad also provides utilities to compare, extract and search for objects, manage projects, import/export data and administer the database, while increasing your productivity and delivering access to an active user community.

New Features

New Features and Enhancements

In Toad for IBM DB2 8.0 the following new features were implemented:

Platform Support

Support for the following platforms has been provided in the current version:

• DB2 z/OS 13

• DB2 LUW 11.5.9

• DB2 Client 11.5.9

• DB2 LUW 12.1 – tolerance tested

• Windows Server 2022

Toad for DB2 Subscription Edition

We are introducing Toad for DB2 Subscription Edition, a new version developed to provide enhanced features and capabilities for Toad for DB2 users. For a detailed comparison of the Toad for DB2 editions, please refer to the Toad for DB2 Matrix Comparison.

It features a user-centric license management system that allows users to easily control their licenses, assign or remove seats for application users, all within a single access management point.

Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

The password file encryption standard for Connections.xml files has been updated to Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

Table space columns

The Max Size and % of Used Max Size columns have been added to the Tablespaces page. These columns display the maximum available space for the tablespace and the percentage of that space currently in use.

Dark Mode theme

The Dark Mode Style color theme is now available and set as the default color theme user interface.

Appropriate error message when DB2 Client is installed incorrectly

When the DB2 client is installed incorrectly, Toad for DB2 displays the appropriate message with a link for troubleshooting tips.

Client Configuration (CFG) file

An option to select the Client Configuration (CFG) file has been added to the Connection dialog, allowing users to create connections using the details stored in the CFG file.
