In Toad for DB2:
For recommended RUNSTATS (note: this does not analyze SQL statements):
LUW –
1) In the Object Explorer, highlight a table or index.
2) On the right hand side, in the Dependencies tab, right click on a Tablespace and select Space Management | Identify Exceptions
z/OS-
In the Object Explorer, right click on a Database and select Real Time Statistics Advisor.
SQL Optimizer does not recommend "runstats". You can input a SQL statement and SQL Optimizer rewrites this SQL by SQL syntax changes based on current statistics. SQL Optimizer does not consider "runstats" as a solution because "runstats" may cause performance changes for all SQLs that access this table/database object. The performance changes are unpredictable, maybe some SQLs get better performance but others slow down.
SQL Optimizer for DB2 LUW provides a button that users can click to perform a "runstats" after viewing the execution plan, but it is not a suggestion from SQL Optimizer.
