Install exits with "fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file or directory" (4250159)

Installation program exits with the following error Enter Oracle home directory or press Enter to use [/ora9run/oracle/product/9.2.0]: ld.so.1: /ora9run/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin/sqlplus: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file or directory | The Oracle version found in ORACLE_HOME=/ora9run/oracle/product/9.2.0 is not 9i. Please, provide 9i ORACLE_HOME directory, or press-X to terminate installation:[X]

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set for the root user or sqlplus binary has been modified

1. Set and export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the root user. To get LD_LIBRARY_PATH, log in as oracle, issue echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Then log in as root and set and export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for root. Then rerun the install.
2. If above does not help, check to make sure sqlplus binary is native, i.e. it has not been modified or patched individually after it was installed. Same may apply to other binaries such as oracle and also libraries.
