This could occur if it is taking the agent longer to communicate than the default timeout. By default ADVL tries 300 times to check agent response and then sleeps for 1 second which results in a timeout of 5 minutes.
The latest RMADFE hotfix for 8.8.1 (this hotfix has been included in 9.0.1) allows you to set a new timeout value. Install the hotfix and then set the timeout value for the following registry keys. The value is set in seconds and it is recommended to set it to a high value of 4 or 5 hours, 14400 or 18000. If the AgentResponseMaxAttempts (DWORD) does not exist, create it:
HKLM\Software\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory\ADVL\AgentResponseMaxAttempts
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Quest\Recovery Manager for Active Directory\ADVL\AgentResponseMaxAttempts
NOTE: If you are using 8.8.1, Quest in the reg key will be a different company name.
