In order to upgrade Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Full Text Index Service must be stopped first.
Stop the Full Text Index Service prior to upgrading Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Also, wait for the FTIattachmentWorker.exe process and iFilterHost.exe process to complete (seen in Task Manager) before upgrading Adobe.
Adobe Reader X does not come with iFilters and uninstalls existing PDF iFilters so please install version 9x
Also, if running on a 64bit OS you should install the 64 bit PDF iFilter 9
