Description:
The NetVault installation’s Machine ID is required when requesting licenses. This can be obtained multiple ways; through the NetVault configurator, or through the GUI interface on the server, or through the CLI tool 'getmachineid'. However steps must be taken manually for each client, each time the Machine ID is required. Sometimes it is desirable to get all Machine IDs at one time. But, this is not reportable through the NetVault built in reporting tool.
The following is a workaround to allow reporting on Machine ID from the NetVault server’s built in reporting tool.
You can set a description for each client, and then report on that. Basic steps are:
1. In the NetVault server GUI, go to client management window.
2. Right-click each client, select properties, note the Machine ID
3. Right-click each client, select set description, and enter the Machine ID.
4. Then add the field ‘Description’ from the ‘Client’ component to any report. This allows you to run a report and include the clients Description, which will contain the Machine ID of the client.
