- Upgrade existing InTrust server to the latest version of InTrust. Please see the InTrust Upgrade Guide for instructions on how to upgrade to the latest release:
https://support.quest.com/intrust/technical-documents - After the existing server has been upgraded wait for a couple of days to verify there are no issues
- Install the same version of InTrust on the new server and join it to existing organization
- Run the attached script against the InTrust_Cfg_DB to transfer all jobs, agents and tasks to the new InTrust server. Edit the script to update the correct entries for OLD-SERVER-NAME-HERE and NEW-SERVER-NAME-HERE. Before running the script ensure you have a backup of the InTrust_CFG_DB. Also it is best to stop the "Quest InTrust Server" service (and dependencies) on all InTrust servers in the org to prevent any tasks from running. Run the script, restart the services on both servers and then confirm everything is working as expected.
- If the Repositories are stored on a network share (not on the old server), the Repositories do not need to be moved
- If the Repositories are stored on the old server use Robocopy or similar tool to move the repositories to the new server. When the repositories have been copied over, on the new server open the InTrust Manager -> Configuration -> Data Stores -> Repositories and change path from old server to new server path where you copied the repositories. It is recommended to use UNC paths
- The services on the old server can be stopped at this point. Wait a few days to confirm there are no issues
When it is confirmed that there are no issues, stop the InTrust services on the new server and then migrate the InTrust databases (InTrust_Alerts_DB, InTrust_Cfg_DB, InTrust_Audit_DB) to the new SQL server (either by backing them up and restoring them, or detaching the databases, copying the MDF and LDF fiiles to the new server and attaching)
Once the DB moves are complete start the "Quest InTrust Real-time" service.
Open an elevated command prompt on the new InTrust server and run following command:
"..\Program Files\Dell\InTrust\Server\ADC\Support Tools\adccfgdb.exe /server NewSQLName" (if database name is unchanged during restore)
If the database name changed during the restore then run:
"..\Program Files\Dell\InTrust\Server\ADC\Support Tools\adccfgdb.exe /server NewSQLName /database NewDatabaseName"
Start the Quest InTrust Service and open the InTrust Manager and go to Configuration | Data Stores | Databases | "InTrust Configuration Database" | Manage Database tab. Click the "..." button and select the new DB Server / database. Repeat this step for 'Default Audit ..., Default Alert ...' and any other remaining databases (it will create the DB if it doesn't exist, i.e. you didn't move/copy it over) and commit changes within In Trust Manager
If needed, the following video KB provides more detailed instructions on how to migrate the databases to a new SQL server:
