Indexing reset from Organizations which perform gathering to shared repositories (4230943)

When InTrust consists of multiple Organizations and the Organization performing the gathering meets the following conditions then indexing can be reset on repositories in question by InTrust services restart or upgrade:

1) Organization performing gathering work does not have indexing enabled. "Enable indexing" option is unchecked.

2) Index is stored in "Repository folder" option is used.

The InTrust server during start-up will check repository index status. If the InTrust server detects that indexing has been disabled yet index exists it will be flagged for removal. This will cause indexing to start all over again from the Organization which performs the indexing work.

WORKAROUND:

For currently running version

Rename Registry Key on collecting server containing the following module:

 “C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\InTrust\Server\InTrust\iADCRPCServer.dll”

Location example:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Aelita\ADC\RpcServer\Interfaces\D2659EEA-F8A5-4100-9209-9D05B7C55205\

For upgrade scenario

1) On the first (collecting) server change path to the shared repo to temporary invalid path
2) Optionally disable schedule of the gathering tasks (recommended)
3) Upgrade collecting server and indexing server simultaneously or one after another
4) Rename Registry Key on collecting server containing module “C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\InTrust\Server\InTrust\iADCRPCServer.dll”

Location example:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Aelita\ADC\RpcServer\Interfaces\D2659EEA-F8A5-4100-9209-9D05B7C55205\

5) Restart InTrust services on collecting server
6) If task schedule was not disabled as per step 2, expect some gathering errors in sessions during this process
7) On the first (collecting) server change path to the shared repository back from temp to usual path

STATUS

Enhancement request ST84567 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of InTrust.
