FOR CORE RULES
Step 1: Verify that there is an EmailAction associated for the specific Severity for which the Rule triggered an alarm
- Review the details (Rule name, Severity) of the alarm in question in Alarms dashboard
- Navigate to Dashboards | Administration | Rules & Notifications | Rules
- Search for the Rule that triggered the alarm
- Click on the Rule name and select View and Edit
- Note down the value of condition variable (SYSADMIN or VMADMIN etc.) for the severity (Fatal/Critical/Warning) for which the alarm was triggered. This is the mail recipient who is supposed to receive email notifications
Step 2: Check and Test Email Configuration Settings
- Navigate to Dashboards | Administration | Setup | Email configuration
- Under Email Server Configuration Table, review the value of email configuration property for accuracy
- Click on Test Configuration button
- Type in recipient address from Step 1
- Click on Send Test Mail
- Verify successful delivery of the mail
