Error running a SQL query: 'Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.' (4286112)

The error message below is displayed in the xcAdmin.log when a SQL query times out during a ControlPoint process, such as a generating a report:

Error running a SQL query: 'Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.'

ControlPoint requires more time for the SQL command to be executed. The built-in "COMMANDTIMEOUT" parameter in the ControlPoint Settings list is set to 300 seconds by default.

1. Open the ControlPoint Configuration Site (e.g. http://servername:1818).
2. Select the ControlPoint Settings List and expand the "Application Performance" category.

   

3. Edit the "COMMANDTIMEOUT" parameter and increase its value (e.g. 600).

   

4. Save the parameter.
5. Recycle the ControlPoint application pool in IIS Manager.
