Before making any changes to the SQL database, ensure there is a full recent backup.
Please use the following steps to find and reimplement the deleted Mailbox:
1] Run the following SQL query in SQL Management Studio on the SQL server for Archive Manager to display all the mailboxes which have a status of "deleted":
SELECT * FROM mailbox WHERE deleted = 1
Browse through all these entries for your particular user's Mailbox and then make a note of the MailBoxID.
2] Run the following SQL query in SQL Management Studio on the SQL server for Archive Manager to undelete a specific mailbox (replace XX with the correct mailboxID obtained in Step1):
UPDATE mailbox SET deleted = 0 WHERE mailboxID = XX
You could use this command instead if you wish:
update mailbox set deleted=0 where name ='Firstname, Lastname'
3] Run the following SQL query in SQL Management Studio on the SQL server for Archive Manager to display all the mailboxes which have a status of "deleted" again and check if the particular user's Mailbox is no longer listed:
SELECT * FROM mailbox WHERE deleted = 1
4] Run the following SQL query in SQL Management Studio on the SQL server for Archive Manager to display all the mailboxes which are not deleted i.e. deleted column displays a zero and check if the user's Mailbox is now listed there:
SELECT * FROM mailbox WHERE deleted = 0
5] Click on Mailboxes in the Administration window to check if the deleted user's Mailbox is visible again.
NOTE: You cannot perform an Archive Manager query in the SQL DB when the Archive Manager DB is not listed under “Databases” within the Object Explorer section on the left hand side.
If your Archive Manager is listed under “Database Snapshots” instead, then this is not the correct Archive Manager DB connection and won’t be able to make any changes.
You will need to check the Archive Manager Configuration Editor for the correct connection path i.e. is listed on the top right hand side next to the cog wheel icon. Click on this link to display the Connection String window.
In the first tab you should be able to see the connection string and see the SQL server name and the DB name, but do not modify anything! Otherwise you will have serious Archive Manager problems!
Just open to view which SQL Server name and SQL DB name you need to connect to.
Once you have launched a New Query, a new window will appear in the middle section to run query commands.
Then click the mouse in that query window and you will then be able to see the Available Databases drop down list on the top left hand side go from grey to white.
Once that drop down list is white, select Archive Manager in order that you can run the queries (running the commands under "master" will result in an "Invalid object name" error message).
You could use "USE ArchiveManager" before each command instead.
