Description
When deploying a Rapid Clone using the “Native” Sysprep execution mode, the following error may be displayed;
"Linked clone failed. CloneVMLinked: CustomizeVM_Task failed! VMware task:CustomizeVM_Task state - Cannot complete customization. - Call Stacks - at VMLinkedClone.VMLinkedCloneService.CloneVMLinked(String vmInvPath, String strSnapshotMor, String”.

Cause
This can be caused if the Microsoft Sysprep files are not found on the VirtualCenter host, not the correct version of Sysprep files, or are not in the correct location.

Resolution
To verify that the below is the correct resolution, perform the following.
1. Open the vSphere console.
2. Perform the task of cloning the Parent Image/VDI.
3. Apply Guest Customizations to the clone.If the error “Warning: Windows customization resources were not found on this server” is displayed, please refer to VMware’s Knowledge Base article 1005593 Sysprep file locations and versions -
