When using integration with vSphere 4.0 with vWorkspace 6.2 an error message may occur when connecting to the Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) machine if the Operating System of the VDI machine is Windows XP or 2003.
The error message is as follows:
"The application or DLL C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\dbghelp.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check against your installation diskette."
An installation issue with PNTools 6.2.269 installs the file 'PNMMRWMPP.DLL' into the AppInit_DLLs registry key. This file is only used for Vista or Windows Server 2008.
To resolve this issue:
1. Launch REGEDIT.EXE (Start | Run | type REGEDIT | select OK)
2. Browse to: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
3. Edit the 'AppInit_DLLs' section and remove 'PNMMRWMPP.DLL'
4. Close REGEDIT.EXE
5. Reboot the VDI machine
