The main reason is that mostly seems for safety reasons you are advised to configure the SAN this way. This configuration helps to avoid possible vmfs corruption, and prevent mistaken/accidental formating of the SAN(i.e. automount popup request to format the drive). This is also the reason disabling automount is recommended.
Disable thje automount on the vRanger machine
