vRanger restore from an NVSD repository fails with error: Unable to connect to repository
In the restore task log, the error logged is " Failed to acquire the shared resources. (Unable to connect to repository.)"
The licensing for NetVault SmartDisk 1.5.1 has expired.
When bringing up the properties for the NVSD Repository the Free Space indicates that the NVSD instance is not licensed.

You will need to purchase a license for NetVault SmartDisk 1.5.1 for vRanger and apply that license to the NVSD installation:
1. On the NVSD installation, log on as an administrator.
2. Open a command prompt by clicking Start > Programs Accessories > Command Prompt.
3. In the Command Prompt window, change to the bin directory in the NVSD directory:
cd \Program Files\Quest Software\NetVault SmartDisk\foundation\bin
4. Enter the license key.
For example: smartdisk.bat license -t XX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX
Note To avoid potential errors, Quest Software recommends that you use copy-and-paste functionality to copy the license key from the email to the command prompt.
The system displays the following message:
License installed successfully
