After restoring a VM via a LAN-Free restore, the newly restored VM fails to boot. The console displays the "Operating System not found" message.
In most LAN-free configurations, the vRanger server does not have write access to the SAN LUNs, so a restore appears to work, but a blank VM is what is actually created. The disks did not get populated with data.
Delete the empty VM, then edit the restore job to uncheck the Perform Lan-free backup box in the Options Selection window and retry the restore job.
In cases such as physical vRanger machine. Eventhough the server has write access to the SAN LUN's as verified in the storage management console, fc switch zoning ( FC san). Make sure that the SAN LUN's appear as "online" on the Windows Disk Management on the vRanger server. Automount disabled. If "offline" use Windows dispart utility. Also check disk attributes to verify that disk is not marked as read-only.
