The vReplicator Service Event Log on the vReplicator server contains the following error message “A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.x.x.x:22.”
This can occur when a VM is in a cluster with DRS set to “Fully automated.” If DPM is set to “Automatic” and the source ESX host is powered down the replication job will time out and produce the error message above.
To prevent this select the cluster and next to Cluster properties click the “Edit” link. Under WMware DRS click on “Power Management” and set this to either the “Off” or “Manual” setting.
