Machine-based VDDK HotAdd backups fail with the
Backup Fails with "Error Message: 3010 - FATAL unknown_io unknown I/O method vix [at io_check_size:118]"
vRanger will not work on a system that has NVBU with its VMware APM installed.
This is a result of vRanger attempting to load VDDK binaries installed by NVBU instead of the binaries installed by vRanger.
An old VMWare plug-in is installing files that cause vRanger to fail.
1. Remove VMWare Plugin v2.1.58 Windows 32-Bit
2. Remove the files below from the following location: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder
2.1 vixDiskLib.dll
2.2 vixDiskLibVim.dll
2.3 vixMntapi.dll
3.1 vixDiskLib.dll
3.2 vixDiskLibVm.dll
This is fixed in the NVBU version 8.6.1 and the VMWare-APM plugin installed.
If you need the plug-in please then install vmw-2-1-58-17-4252.npk make sure this does not installed those files after a job is setup.
