The following versions of Microsoft SQL are supported for operation with vRanger 5.3.x

SQL 2008 SP3
SQL 2008 R2
If you chose to use Microsoft SQL Server instead of SQL Express, the SQL Server application must be installed on the vRanger Machine in order for the cataloging feature to function. For more information, see the vRanger Installation and Setup Guide.
