When attempting a FLR on a Linux VM the following error is seen: "Error: ShellCommandVznlinuxio failed to attach in a timely fashion." The mount of the archive never completes.
Certain Linux disk configurations can cause the vRanger archive to be non-mountable, and hence cause this error:
1) Encrypted file systems/home directory file systems. Take a look at the "live" VM the archive was taken from. If the filesystem is encrypted in any way (several ways depending on the Linux version being used), the vRanger Linux FLR mount process cannot "see" the file metadata, etc. to perform the mount operation within an FLR.
2) Several disk types are also non-supported for similar reasons (Linux LVM disks, analogous to Windows Dynamic Disks (which are also not able to use the FLR functionality of vRanger either). Consult the vRanger User Guide, downloadable at the www.quest.com portal site:
Also, consult any new release notes applicable to your particular version of vRanger for updates.
1) Don't use encrypted filesystems or non-supported Linux platforms for machines that need to use the FLR functionality.
2) Perform FULL restores of these VMs instead, then extract the files/folders you need to replace manually (these limitations ONLY affect File-Level Restores, not full BLOCK-level restores in vRangeR).
