Catalog database does not install on a remote database.
It is not possible to install the Catalog database on a remote SQL machine; it must be local to the vRanger install.
It is a vRanger requirement that the Catalog Service database be installed on a local (to vRanger) database. The database can be a full version of SQL (2005 or 2008) or an Express version of SQL (2005 (comes with vRanger) or 2008) but it must be local.
*Note – the vRanger database can be install remotely, but the Catalog database cannot.
