he size of a savepoint of a particular backup vm, is smaller than the total physical size of a virtual machine but is larger than the size of all the data on that vm.
VRanger backs up on a block level as opposed to a file level. Virtual machines (Such as database servers) that create and delete a large number of log files, cause a lot of block level changes. These results in the size of the in use block level data being larger than the data being used on the virtual machine.
Turn on ABM (Active Block Mapping) , this a vRanger patented technology that reduces the backup size, by removing deleted files from the backup.
