vRanger backup fails with error:
"Unable to connect to repository. NVSD instance is not licensed."
The licensing for NetVault SmartDisk 1.5.1 has expired.
When bringing up the properties for the NVSD Repository the Free Space indicates that the NVSD instance is not licensed.

You will need to purchase a license for NetVault SmartDisk 1.5.1 for vRanger and apply that license to the NVSD installation:
1. On the NVSD installation, log on as an Administrator.
2. Open a command prompt by clicking Start > Run.
3. In the Command Prompt window, change to the bin directory in the NVSD directory:
cd \Program Files\Quest Software\NetVault SmartDisk\foundation\bin
4. Run the following command with your own license key substituted in to apply the NVSD key manually:
smartdisk.bat license -t XX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX
Note: To avoid unnecessary errors, Quest Software recommends that you use copy-and-paste functionality to copy the license key from the email to the command prompt and ensure that there are no spaces on the end.
The system displays the following message:
License installed successfully
If you receive an error message saying that the key was not applied, run the additional command below to gather the Machine ID of your SmartDisk server:
smartdisk.bat license --querymachineid
Then compare the above Machine ID value to the Machine ID listed in the e-mail containing your SmartDisk license key from the Quest licensing team.
If the Machine ID described above does not match, then a new key will need to be generated for the correct Machine ID of your SmartDisk server.
Please e-mail Quest licensing at license@quest.com, providing them the Machine ID output from the "smartdisk.bat license --querymachineid" command, and request an updated license key.
