When trying to add savepoint Manifest.metadata file in "Restore from Manifest" form, credentials are not accepted for a VM that was backed up from a ESXi5 host. It is confirmed that credentials accepted when creating a Restore from Manifest job for a VM that was backed up from a ESX(i)3.5-4.1 host.
The issue affects savepoints for ESXi5 VMs only. There is a bug in vRanger 5.3.0. The 'from Manifest' module does not understand VMwareXMLStorage50 tag in VmConfig.metadata file. This file is generated by VC/ESX when a backup is performed.
There are 2 possible solutions to this issue.
Solution 1 is to upgrade to vRanger 5.4.
Solution 2 is to follow these steps.
1. Open savepoint VmConfig.metadata file in text editor and replace VMwareXMLStorage50 tag with VMwareXMLStorage40 twice (opening and closing tags). Save file.
2. Try "Restore from Manifest" one more time.
This issue is fixed in version 5.4. Before attempting this procedure please upgrade from your current version to 5.4, released 5/21/2012.
