During the snapshot removal process at the end of a backup task the VM may power off. Virtual Center may give error "performing disk cleanup. Cannot power off"
Check for phantom snapshots in the directory where the VM resides. To do this open a putty session to the ESX host as root or su - then
- vmware-cmd -l (will list all the vm's controlled by the host and what directory they are in)
- cd (locate the vm's directory in the output of above command and high light it then right click)
- ls -alh (look for any -delta.vmdk files)
You may either clone the VM or use VC to create a snapshot and then do a Delete All operation
