Need to setup replication pre-seed for Disaster Recovery or off-site location.
In order to get the pre-seed to work, you need to do the following.
Perform a local replication of the VM you want to use as a pre-seed, documenting the ESXi host names and associated VA IP's.
1. Using WinSCP, (binary transfer), or other, copy folder of original VM that was replicated from local target host to DR, external pre-seed host.
2. Make sure you also have a VA in place and registered with vRanger for the pre-seed host.
3. Open vRanger, open vReplicator VM job you want to move, open log file tab and find alpha numeric number associated with "replication task xxxxxx for virtual machine xxxxxxx".
3. Using WinSCP (binary transfer) connect to local target VA and open scratch disk (cd /scratch/sdb) and find "replication task virtual machine alpha numeric number identified above", use ls -lah to verify it contains the appropriate VM's vzmap. Copy folder, alpha numeric containing .vzmap, not just .vzmap, you need the folder, to desktop. (Get screen cap of folder structure where vzmap located for reference).
4. Using WinsSCP (binary transfer) connect to pre-seed VA and copy vzmap folder from desktop to sdb folder. (Use screen cap to place in same locationon scratch disk).
5. Now, go to original replication and edit, using pre-seed option, identify new host location, remembering to ensure differential is checked.
6. Run job.
