Description
Replication fails with: An internal error occurred during execution....Error Message: 2721 - Warning: Permanently added 'host name or IP' (RSA) to the list of known hosts. -
Cause
Replication: Error Message: 2721 - Warning: Permanently added 'host name or IP' (RSA) to the list of known hosts."FATAL repl_wrong_size target" or "phys:/vmfs/volumes/datastore/VM_Replica/VM_Replica-flat.vmdk has the wrong size [at send_hashes_thread:504] FATAL internal or internal error [at pkt_recv_unlock:82]"Additional in the logs report:Error Message: 3201 - can't open [Datastore] VM/VM.vmdkThThis occurs because changing the disk size of the replica VM will require vRanger recreate the vzmap files with the updated info about the source and replica VM.is issue can occur if you change the disk size(s) on the source VM. -
Resolution
If the disk (size: Source VM) needs to be change (space reasons) the vRanger software is unable to promote in the target replica VM the modification. This chance are going to promote a Replication failure due to inconsistency in size. To fix this problem:
1. Open the Edit Settings (vSphere) at the Replica machine and increase the size of the disk (s) to be exactly the same size of the disk (s) at the source.
2. Re run the Replication ( Re-hash is going to happen, the next time that the job runs) normally this Replicase are going to take some extra time.
3. If the chance is succesful the machine (Replica) is going to be replicated with no issues, if not Delete the previous Replica and re run the the Replication.
4. After a longer period of time the Replica machine are going to reflect the changes made and it would be ready again to confirm run a test failover.
