Error: The database transaction was rolled back (4036531)

Backup jobs fails at the end of the process as it normally happens with this error. Var files are ready by this time. Ranger attempts to save 2 metadata files: Manifest and VmConfig.

Service logs reveals some details:

Vizioncore.Vmware.Vim50.VirtualMachineBootOptionsBootableCdromDevice was not expected.

Another VM setting that can not be serialized (converted to xml).

Corresponding setting in vmx file should be removed and VM re-registered. Following steps are recommended:

1. Power VM down.
2. Note datastore and folder of VM. It is suggested to keep open datastore browser to vmx file location.
3. In main VC window, remove VM from Inventory.
4. Make sure SSH is running on the host. In VC select host - Configuration tab - Security Profile - Properties - SSH - Options - Start.
5. Establish SSH connection to the host.
6. Navigate to vmx dir: cd /vmfs/volumes/<datastore>/<VM_dir>
7. Remove setting using sed command: sed -i '/bios.bootOrder/d' <vm_name>.vmx
8. Switch to Datastore Browser, right click vmx file and select 'Add to Inventory'.
9. Power VM on.

If you had a separate job for single VM, you will have to recreate it. If VM was part of some group of VMs backed by one job, no changes are necessary.
