Attempts of replications or backups result in the message: A connection to the Virtual Appliance could not be be established
Generally errors like this occur when vRanger doesn't have the most current information regarding the VA, or when the VA has lost connection due to power off, incorrect DNS/IP settings, etc.
1. Log in to the VA via the console and then type reboot.
2. Open vRanger and click on Tools | Options and Configuration under the Virtual Appliance heading.
3. If the VA is shown here (in rare cases it will not be) click the box next to it and select remove.
***Be sure NOT to select the delete from Host option as doing so WILL remove the VA from VCenter****
4. Click next through all of the screens.
5. Reboot the vRanger server.
6. Once it is back up, open vRanger and select Tools | Options and Configuration under the Virtual Appliance heading.
7. Click Add, and then add the VA back to vRanger.
The task should now run.
