When Spotlight on Messaging (SOM) Diagnostic Console connects to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) BlackBerry Messaging Agents counter shows a yellow warning that only One agent is running.
This message is only a warning as BlackBerry Messaging Agents only run when needed. BES by default assigns mailboxes to a Messaging Agent, to configure more agents this should be done on the BES server per RIM's configuration instructions.
To stop this alarm this counter would need to be disabled by following the below instructions:
1. Right Click the Blackberry Messaging Agents counter in Spotlight Diagnostic Console
2. Select Metrics
3. On the left hand pane uncheck the Alarm Metric checkbox
This will stop the alarm being raised.
For the value here Spotlight counts the number of processes found for "BlackBerryAgent*". For the maximum number of agents we look at one of the values from the snmp counters (you can connect using any Management Information Base (MIB) browser to check these values). If there are not many users, this alarm is not serious. If there are only a few users it's ok that there is only 1 message agent running, and the alarm can be turned off by disabling the alarm threshold. This alarm is enabled by default to handle customers with larger deployments.
