How to change the method that e-mail notifications are sent from MAPI to SMTP.
1. Launch the Spotlight on Exchange Diagnostic console
2. Select View | Options | Spotlight Console
3. Click Servers from the options pane on the left hand side of the window
4. Select SMTP as the e-mail method you want to use.
5. Click options
6. In the User information section fill in the Name, E-mail address, and reply address that you want the notifications to come from
7. In the server information section fill in name and port of your SMTP server.
8. Click OK
9. Click OK
