How does Spotlight on Exchange determine the send queue information for Exchange 2007 servers?
For Exchange Server 2007, Spotlight on Exchange gets this information from the Messages queued for Submission performance counter.
You can verify accuracy of Spotlight on Exchanges information by using the following steps:
1. Access Performance Monitor on the Spotlight computer, and Select 'Add a counter'.
2. Enter the name of the Exchange Server with the messages showing the the Send Queue under 'Select Counters From Computer'.
3. Add the 'MSExchangeIS Mailbox' performance object, and the Messages queued for Submission' counter.
4. Compare the number displayed in the 'Last' Column to the number that Spotlight on Exchange is displaying in the Send Queue size.
WORKAROUND:
- Verify that the Microsoft Exchange Mail Submission service is running on the Mailbox server.
- Determine if there is a bottleneck, and if so, what resources are creating the bottleneck. After finding the cause of the bottleneck, attempt to mitigate the problem. Possible bottlenecks include disk reads or writes, processor time, available memory, and network configuration.
