Tests created within the Spotlight on Messaging console are timing out, they need to be configured to run longer to complete.
The timeout for each test is determined as a max or two values: The test Execution Schedule defined in the Spotlight on Messaging console on the test specifically, in addition the Global timeout specified in the registry. By default, tests are scheduled with a 30 minute Execution Schedule and/or interval and the Global timeout is also 30 min. Meaning, the default timeout for tests are 30 minutes unless otherwise specified.
To set a tests specific Execution Schedule (which will result in timeout if the test overlaps the schedule)
1. Open the Spotlight on Messaging console
2. Right-click the desired test and click Edit
3. Click Test Settings
4. Modify the Execution Schedule
5. Click Finish
If you change test Execution Schedule to 45 minutes, the timeout for the specific test you're modifying will immediately calculated as 45 minutes.
If you change your Execution Schedule to 15 minutes, the new time out will be still 30 min, because now global timeout value from registry is a largest of two values.
To set the Default Timeout within the registry:
Note: This will impact the time out of all tests that are configured in the Spotlight on Messaging console:
1. Select Start | Run | type regedit | click OK
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\Spotlight Management Framework\Diagnostic Services\TestExecution
3. Right-click DefaultTimeout | Modify
4. Change the Base to Decimal
5. Enter the desired timeout for the Tests in Value data (Default is 30)
6. Click OK.
