When in Spotlight on Exchange (SoE) Topology Viewer (TV) and right-click on a Routing Group the menu items under Detect are greyed out and none of the actions listed there (Configure Data Collection, etc) can be performed.
TV not connected to Diagnostic Services
Connect Topology Viewer to Diagnostic Services:
1. Launch Topology Viewer
2. Go to menu File | Connect to Diagnostic services..
3. Type the Diagnostic services server name (this normally is the hostname where Topology Viewer is running). The 'Always connect on startup' check box can be ticked. Click OK
