Note: These instructions are using v3.3 as the older version and v5.1 as the newer version.
The normal process should be to back up the existing TIC data folder, to avoid lost data, and upgrade in the same server. It is not possible to just copy the existing data from the old TIC 3.3 to the new TIC 5.1. Some data files format/schema have been changed and these changes can only be handled in the TIC installer upgrade process.
If you want to use another server and migrate the data/job to the new server, the best way to do this is the following...
1. Set up another TIC 3.3 server. Set up all the same DB connections (ODBC/Oracle client) in that server (name and config need to be the same as the existing TIC 3.3 server).
2. Copy the TIC data folder from the old TIC 3.3 server to the new TIC 3.3 server. Verify the data (automation script and snapshots run without error).
3. Upgrade the new TIC 3.3 to TIC 4.3 first, as TIC 3.3 is too old, we highly recommend updating to the 4.3 first.
4. Update the new TIC 4.3 to TIC 5.1
If there are thousands of objects that need to be migrated, we still recommend you use the above method (new TIC 3.3->TIC4.3->TIC5.1).
If there are not many objects to migrate, it can be handled by manually republishing them...
TDP connect to old TIC and get the automation script.
TDP publish this automation script to the new TIC.
