How to add multiple objects within multiple databases to version control repository in one process
Description
Is it possible to bulk load multiple object types in multiple databases into a Version Control repository in one process?
Resolution
** The highest level that can be exported initially to the repository is at the database level. To do this:
Set the Object Explorer to TreeView.
Right click a database and go through the setup wizard if this has not already been done.
Once the wizard is complete, right click the database again | Commit.
This will then produce a list of objects that can be placed under version control. | Select as required | Click OK
Repeat for each database required.
The following object types can be placed under Version Control.
TABLE
VIEW
STORED PROCEDURE
FUNCTION
SEQUENCE
UDDT
RULE
DEFAULT
SQL SCRIPT
Additional Information
Depending on the size of the databases, you still may wish to Commit by object type e.g. right click 'Stored Procedures' | Commit.
It is also recommended, while you are doing this to have the View | Background Processes and the View | Output windows enabled so that you can watch the process.
