Toad Locks Up During Alter Table Operation connected to SQL Server 2008
Description

I'm trying to perform an Alter Table operation on one specific table and Toad is freezing or locking up. The screen just turn white and they have to kill Toad via the Task Manager. Re-opening Toad does not perform any of the alterations.
Resolution

WORKAROUND:
None.

Enhancement Request ST79453 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Toad for SQL Server.

However if I use Management Studio to perform the alter on the same table, I receive the following error:

Saving changes is not permitted. The changes you have made require the following tables to be dropped and re-created. You have either made changes to a table that can't be re-created or enable the option Prevent saving changes that require the table to be re-created.

The resolution in Management Studio is to go to Tools | Options then go to the Designer Page and uncheck "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation".
