My system has 4x GB memory, but as you know only 3x is recognized on a 32 bit system (Vista Ultimate). It is large file but is there a limit for file size? is there a way around this when working with large files?
Error when opening a 124 MB file in the Editor window:
"Exception: System.OutOfMemoryException
Message : Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown."
Toad editor has a lot of parsing features which are memory intensive, so it cannot not handle such big a script.
There is no specific limit on the size of the file since this can verify with the file and environment, but we do not recommend using Toad to open such a large file as 124 MB. Test with about 40 MB seem to react more positively in Toad. It's a balance of features and handling and development is always working on ways of improving Toad. For now, there is no workaround to opening such a large file as is, and can only advise to reduce/divide the size of the file or use another format for importing data or running a script.
